Creating a Budget For Your New Zealand Vacation

Now that you have taken care of the business part of your vacation your next step is to create a budget for your New Zealand vacation. The amount of money that you want to spend on your vacation is going to influence what you can do on your vacation, how long your vacation can be and the type of accommodations you can afford. Generally you will want to budget for $200 a day for budget vacations and $1,000+ a day for luxury vacations.

A good place to start your budget is to look at your funding source. If you have a vacation savings account then the amount of money in your account is how much you have to spend on your vacation. However, even if you don’t have a lot of money saved you can still find money to take a great New Zealand vacation. Credit cards with travel rewards programs can help you to earn your vacation by simply using the card through out the year. This card can also be used to finance your vacation. Finally, if you own your own home and you have equity built up, you can cash out this equity to pay for a great vacation.

Once you have an overall budget for your vacation you will want to subtract upfront costs like airfare, travel insurance and passport costs. If you will be taken a cruise then you will want to also subtract the cost of your cruise from your budget. Whatever is left over will need to be divided by the number of days you will be on vacation. This will give you your per day budget. This budget will need to cover costs like food, hotels, rental cars, admission to attractions and shopping.

Travel insurance, various flights to New Zealand and other New Zealand vacation costs need to be factored into your vacation budget.
