This week I’d like to return to the topic of planning your New Zealand vacation. As we have discussed before the process of planning any international vacation is complicated. Not only do you need to think about what you need to bring with you and what activities you want to do while on vacation, you also need to think about political, legal and medical issues that are associated with your vacation destination or destinations.
One of the issues that you will need to research while planning your New Zealand vacation is the legal requirements for entering the country. You will need to learn about the travel visa requirements, the personal documents that you will need and the amount of money you will be allowed to bring into the country. You can usually find this information on the State Department’s website for New Zealand, or from your travel agent. Make sure you learn this information well in advance of your departure date.
Another issue that you will need to research while planning your New Zealand vacation is the medical hazards. Every country has its own set of illnesses, diseases and safety issues. New Zealand is no exception to this rule. Even though it is a safe country to travel to, it does have insect born diseases and water microbial illnesses that can ruin your vacation if you contract them. The best strategy is to learn what the health hazards are, take the necessary precautions and to be vigilant in watching for signs of the illness developing.
