Every year the New Year is rung in with a huge fireworks display in countries around the globe. This year, if you will be in New Zealand then you will want to pack yourself a great picnic dinner and head for the local beach or community park. Here is where you will be able to kick back, enjoy local festivities and watch a firework display.
If you are thinking about shooting off your own fireworks you need to understand that New Zealand has rather strict rules regarding fireworks. Their firework laws changed this year in November. Now it is only legal to sell fireworks to people over the age of 18 during a four day period in November. This means that you most likely won’t be able to buy your own fireworks for the New Year.
Don’t worry about not being able to buy your own fireworks for the New Year. You can still have a great time watching local displays that are sponsored by the local government or by special organizations. These events are free to the public and are usually a part of a larger celebration. Most of these firework display events are alcohol free community events that are family friendly and loaded with local entertainment and food.
To plan a great New Zealand vacation you need to understand what New Zealand Holiday events to attend and what New Zealand outdoor activities to participate in. However, it also means understanding the laws and rules of the country, especially in regards to buying fireworks.

When I was there this past year for NYE, I had such an amazing time. Why don’t you think NZ is more apt for travelers? The country sure knows how to put on a celebration!
I never said NZ was not apt for travelers. Where did you get that idea?
Celebrating the New year in some other country can be so beautiful thing and New Zealand is the best palce to visit as one can do many thing there like sky diving or rock climbing. The population of the country is also very less so there won’t be too much chaos.
Hehe- NZ is a beautiful country but it does tend to rain inconviently, like this year. Great for my friends in St. Johns though.
Yes, it does rain intermittently in NZ, but usually it is a drizzle and never stopped us from tramping and seeing the sites. You just need to wear a breathable rain jacket.
