Last week I got a bit off track and discussed some of the February activities that you can participate in if you are already in New Zealand. This week let’s get back to planning our New Zealand vacation. We are now at the point in our planning where we can start looking at different vacation activities, such as Helicopter Tours.
There are several different tour lines in New Zealand that offer helicopter tours and Helicopter Line is one of the most reputable. They offer tours of Mt. Cook, Fox Glacier, Franz Josef Glacier and Queenstown. They employee a large fleet of European style helicopters, mainly the European AS355 Twin Engine Squirrels and the AS350 Squirrels model. These aircrafts are designed specifically for heli-tourism and offer you an open cockpit design which will allow you plenty of opportunities to view the wonders of New Zealand. The cost of tours offered by this company range between NZ$185 per person and about NZ$360 per person. The price depends on the length of the tour.
If you are more interested in fire than ice, then the White Island Helicopeter Tours New Zealand are a good option. This tour company will take you to White Island, which is an active volcano, provide you with safety gear and show you around the island on a one hour guided tour. You can board helicopters for this tour in both Tauranga and in Routorua.
