Next week is the Winter Solstice in New Zealand, which is the opposite for us here in the U.S. If you are a winter lover, or a holiday lover, then visit New Zealand next week for music events and winter festivals.

The first event scheduled for next week is the Winter Solstice Fire Festival. It is scheduled for June 21 at the Napier Soundshell, Marine Parade in Hawkes Bay, Napier, New Zealand. These New Zealand outdoor activities celebrate the Winter Solstice with fire artists, dancing, live music, a beach fire sculpture and fireworks.

From June 27 through July 6 the American Express Queenstown Winterfestival 2008 will be up and running. There will be 60 events to choose from during this ten day period. Events will include sporting events, music events, cultural events and food and wine events. Some of the events will have an admission fee, so talk to an event coordinator to learn about tickets and pricing.

The final event scheduled for June is the Graduate Choir, NZ: Mid-Winter Christmas Recital. It is scheduled for June 28 and is one of many mid year New Zealand holidays event. It will be held at the King’s College Chapel which is located on Golf Avenue in Otahuhu, Auckland, New Zealand. The event will run from 7:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. Christmas music will be featured, as will guest organist Philip Smith. A donation of about $20 is recommended if you attend this event. In addition to great choral music, this event will also offer mince meat pie and sherry.
