This week is a great week to be in New Zealand. Whether you are interested in sporting events or cultural events, there is something planned that will grab your attention.
The first event that you can attend is scheduled for April 6 and it is the Martinborough Harvest Lunch. The venue for this event is Martinborough Squre. Only 250 tickets are available for this food event, and each one costs $150NZD. You can buy your ticket from the Village Café. The event starts at 12:30 p.m. and five great courses prepared using local produce, wines, cheeses and foods. The proceeds from this event will benefit a variety of charities.
If you will be in the Waikato area between April 9 and 13, then you will want to wake early and look up. This is when the Balloons Over Waikato event is scheduled. Over 100,000 spectators are expected and lots of great events and activities are planned. One event that you will not want to miss is the in the air acrobatic performance given by Pipi Ayesha, which will take place 100 feet in the air. There is no admission fees for this event.
If you are looking for a little adventure, or if you would like to be a spectator at an adventure race then you will want to make your way to Hanmer Springs on April 11. This is where and when the three day adventure race will begin. The first day of racing will start at 9:00 a.m. and will last between 8 and 12 hours for the racers. After a short break the second day of racing will begin at midnight and will last between 15 and 24 hours for the racers. On the final day of racing, the racers will leave at 6 a.m. and finish up the course in about 6 hours. This is a 200km event that is designed for team made up of 2 or 4 members.
