New Zealand Outdoor Activities : April 25, 2008

This is the last week in the month of April. It is hard to believe that the year is already a third of the way over. This week in New Zealand you have a lot of great activities to choose from.

If you are a mountain biking fanatic, or extreme sportman or woman, then you will want to make plans to either attend or participate in the first ever New Zealand Singlespeed Mountain Bike Championship. This is a qualifying race for the World Singlespeed Mountain Bike Championship to be help in Napa, California in August. However, in order to win this race and move on to the world championship, you will need to not only be the first man or woman across the finish line, but you will also need to accept a special tattoo. The venue for this event is Whakarewarewa Forest, Rotorua and it will be help April 25 through April 27.

If you are interested in gourmet New Zealand foods, then you will want to make plans to attend the Gourmet Experience, scheduled for April 26 and 27. The venue for this event is the Pettigre Green Arena in Hawkes Bay. There is an admission charge, but you will have access to the countries best fruits, cheeses, wines, oils and meats. A great event for tourists looking for an easy way to sample a wide variety of New Zealand products.

If you are a classic car lover then you will want to make plans to attend the Beach Hop. This huge event attracts over 70,000 people. It features over 1,000 classic cars from the 1950s and 1960s. The venue for this event is Williamson Park in Coromandel, and it is free to the general public.

New Zealand vacations wouldn’t be complete without a few local events. If you are interested in New Zealand food and drinks or New Zealand outdoor activities, this is a great week to be in the country.
